What is two-factor authentication (2FA) and why should I use it?
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security for your account.
Instead of just logging in with your email and password, you need a second form of verification to prove that it's really you.
How does 2FA work?
Normal registration = one factor
- Something you know (your password)
With 2FA = two factors
- Something you know (your password)
- Something you own (e.g., a code from an authenticator app on your smartphone)
Example:
- You enter your email address and password.
- Then enter a one-time code from your authenticator app.
Even if someone knows your password, they cannot log in without the second factor.
Why is 2FA important?
Passwords can fall into the wrong hands in various ways:
- Reuse across multiple platforms
- Phishing (fake login pages)
- Data leaks at other services
Once a password is compromised, an account can be taken over—unless 2FA is enabled. Then the password alone is no longer sufficient.
How to enable 2FA on Filmmakers
- Open User Account → Settings ( filmmakers)
- Select Enable two-factor authentication.
- Follow the instructions and link an authenticator app.
